I believe that the more embodied our soul becomes, the more sensitive we become. The more we know ourselves, the more we simply cannot act from the avoidance of personality traits, from our ego running the show.
It is hard to fully embrace our soul, to feel the sensitivity that goes with it, the transparency that it entails. We know ourselves, deeply to the core, we know not only our beauty, but we get to see and witness, so closely the moments we are untrue to ourselves and others. We get to see the harms we have done, the mistakes we have made and the way that our survival instincts played themselves out. We may know this was necessary then, but we know these things need to change and we can see the time when they were no longer necessary, but we persisted, not yet ready to embrace change, because we could not. We were not yet ready.
This teaches us to have compassion with ourselves, to be kind and not to punish our already sensitive being. But it can be hard because we see so much. Humility is the golden key, the access to the souls potential. Our spiritual journey in life is to bring spirit and matter together, we hear this from all great artists and spiritual teachers. Meeting the soul and ego, allowing the two to fall in love, merging one with the other, making space for both, as one releases its grip, so slightly at first, the other is carried home with care and attentiveness, we begin to recognise why it left in the first place, and that can be a painful task.
To remain true to our soul for a life time, would not have been possible. We are human beings living a human existence, we experience the sufferings that diminish us as well as forming platforms for our growth. We take all of this into account and learn to discern, what needs tender healing and nurture and what can be transformed into a powerful life force, becoming the soul in service to humanity?
As this discernment is being attended to, there is fragility and sensitivity ensues, we cannot remain the same. There is a temptation to grow small and insignificant, to hide away in the darker recesses of mind and life. But this is not possible. The soul knows what kindles, the spark of recognition that yearns to share its sacred contract and knows it cannot fully embrace matter without fulfilling its purpose. Without learning the way of soul within that human experience.
We might feel the personality beginning to lessen its grip on us, we are not the same. Confusion sets in for a time, we ask the questions, who am I? For I cannot be who I was. Detachment from the past, from who we thought we were becomes so clear and yet we cling to the past so as to remember that earliest time, when our soul was born with us. And all that happened between that time, the lessons learnt, the experiences that unfolded and the wisdom that became deep seated in our intuition and longings.
The soul lands further, beginning to fill the body with deeper meanings, with the recognition of who we are when the ego makes space, and only holding what matters, its humbleness to life is felt. This precious time exists as we awaken to its possibilities, but if we are not prepared for this, it will shock us and we will curse it. Gripping our identity we try to force the old life to remain, after all it is who we made ourselves to be or that was inflicted upon us by a world that set its own rules that were not always inline with spirit.
Remembering what it means to come home, we land here in the body, feeling all that needs to be felt. For now the extent of our suffering can be held, our vulnerability lightened as it settles into the one who knows. The victim is tenderised, the demonstrative ego put to sleep, it no longer matters, they can no longer continue the show, for there is no audience, least of all itself, to perform to.
The softening has begun, there can be no resistance. For this will create a sickness, deeply engrained in the mind, wanting to forget any possibility of change, the fear is too strong, the identity too caught up in how life ‘should’ be. The soul will not thrive under these circumstances for the soul must be given space, its deeper mission made known.
Transparency in all its measures ensues, honesty to the core, fear – a faithful ally, walks with us hand in hand. Being reminded that fear will keep us safe, there is no push and pull, just a recognition that we are uncovering the truth and all is being revealed and reviewed. Honesty will find itself in the safest moments, where what needs to be heard, gently and with care is made known as we free ourselves from holding it to ourselves. There is nothing to force, just admitting our truest natures, all that we have put on the table, is received with calm and grace. For haven’t we all walked that path, many times over and found ourselves in uncompromising situations? We all know the human stories and not one of us is here to judge another.
